Official Rules and Regulations of the Great Gatlinburg Shark Race – Must
be 18 or older to purchase tickets
Presented
by the United Way of Sevier County, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.
1. A
maximum of 15,000 sharks will be entered in the race.
2. Sharks
will be launched into the Little Pigeon River from the Christus Gardens
Bridge at approximately 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2010. Weather
conditions or
other
interference may affect race time and/or drop location. The racecourse
will be established by the Presenter. The Presenter reserves the right
to manually maneuver sharks while on the racecourse. If extreme
circumstances prevent the race from occurring on September 25, 2010,
every effort will be made to reschedule the race within two weeks of the
original race date. If the race does not occur within two weeks, winners
will be determined by a random drawing conducted by the Presenter.
3. All
sharks entered will be provided by the Presenter and shall remain the
property
of the
Presenter.
4. Once
sharks are launched, they are on their own. No attempt to free or
interfere
with any
shark is permitted unless deemed necessary by the Presenter. The
racecourse will close after the grand prize, first runner-up, second
runner-up, third runner-up, fourth runner-up, and fifth runner-up
winners have entered the shark net. The first shark to enter will be
awarded the grand prize of $10,000, the first runner-up winner will
receive a 7 day, 6 night Smoky Mountain vacation package, the second
runner-up winner will be awarded a 35 Carat Amethyst, the third
runner-up winner will be awarded a $350 Walmart gift card and the fourth
& fifth runner-up will be awarded a VIP amusement package for six people
to Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg area attractions.
5. A
number will be attached to each racing shark. A computer will then
randomly
assign
the numbers on the sharks to the numbers on the ticket. After the date
that this match has been completed, further assignments will be hand
written by the Presenter, which includes staff and volunteers. The
person listed on the ticket corresponding to the winning shark will be
awarded prizes. Positive identification is required (valid drivers
license) and the claimant must be 18 years of age or older. A list of
prizes may be obtained by sending a request along with a stamped,
self-addressed envelope to: United Way of Sevier County, P.O. Box 6458,
Sevierville, TN, 37864-6458.

Presenter reserves the right, at is sole option, to substitute prizes of
comparable value.
7. The
combined retail value of the prizes will be at least $20,000.
8. The
entry portion of each ticket must be completely filled out and delivered
to the Presenter or an authorized representative prior to the race for
the entry to be eligible.
9. The
Presenter reserves the right to limit the number of tickets per
individual.

Winners will be announced. Winners will also, where necessary, be
notified by
telephone
or US mail. Entrants need not be present to win. If a winner does not
claim his/her prize within 30 days after September 25, 2010, Presenter
will select a winner by random drawing of entry tickets. All prizes will
be awarded.
11.
Corporate directors and employees of the United Way of Sevier County are
not eligible to win. Also, neither the person appointed by the Presenter
authorized to pull the sharks from the water in order of finishing nor
any relative of said person either close or distant shall be eligible to
win. Winner must prove eligibility.
12. No
cash equivalent will be awarded in lieu of designated prizes. Any and
all taxes and similar fees, including but not limited to applicable
license and registration fees
on any
vehicles, are the sole responsibility of the winner.
13. By
entering, entrants release presenter and its officers, directors and
staff, and
other
related entities from any and all liability with respect to prizes.
14. By
entering, winners consent to the promotion of their names and likenesses
without
additional compensation.
15.
Chances of winning depend on the total number of qualified entrants.
16. This
event is subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations
and is void
when
prohibited by law.
17. The
conduct of the race and the determination of race winners will be
audited by
a
representative of an independent accounting firm. The Presenter will
make all
decisions
and interpretations of the rules and regulation and its judgment is
final.
18. A
copy of these rules and regulations may be obtained by sending a request
with a stamped, self-addressed envelope to The Great Gatlinburg Shark
Race Rules and Regulations at the address listed in #5 above.
