Making Financial Donations
United Way of Sevier County is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization. When you give to the United Way of Sevier County, it's an investment in our community. Your United Way contribution goes to work meeting basic needs and creating lasting change - because that's what matters. Together, we can get results that no one organization can accomplish alone.
Here in Sevier County we are meeting basic needs through our United Way Community Partners, but also focusing on getting to the heart of our community's most critical issues.
By combining the power of your contribution with United Way's efficient management and distribution process, you can be assured that funds are used where they will have the most impact. With just one gift, whether you choose payroll deduction or direct donation, you are helping individuals who are your co-workers, your neighbors, your friends and your family right here in Sevier County!
UNITED WAY COMMUNITY IMPACT FUND
When you give through the United Way's Community Impact Fund, your dollars are stretched to meet a variety of needs in the community. In this way, you are able to make the biggest impact in helping those who need it most.
Donors may give a directed gift to one or more approved United Way of Sevier County agencies.
De TOCQUEVILLE SOCIETY (history)
Monies raised through the de Tocqueville Society are used exclusively to cover overhead costs associated with running the organization. In this way 100-percent of all monies raised through United Way's annual campaign and special events goes directly back into the community.
What documentation do I need to claim a tax deduction?
Please see general answers below. In addition, donors should consult their tax advisors for more specific guidance.
- Payroll Deduction: For contributions through payroll deduction, your final year-end paycheck and copy of your pledge form will substantiate your total United Way contribution for the year.
- Check: For contributions to United Way by check, your cancelled check is your receipt. For contributions of $250 or more, United Way of Sevier County will automatically provide you with a letter stating that no goods or services were given to you in exchange for your contribution. This letter will be provided to you no later than January 31 of the year following the gift. For contributions of less than $250, United Way of Sevier County will provide a similar letter at the request of the donor.
- Stock: For contributions of stock, United Way of Sevier County will automatically provide you with a letter communicating the amount of the charitable deduction and confirming that no goods or services were given to you in exchange for the contribution.
